An anal fistula is a tunnel that has formed between the anal canal and the skin around it, usually after an abscess. It does not close on its own, and antibiotics only quiet it between discharges: the tract itself has to be dealt with surgically.
At Lux Hospitals, fistula surgery costs between ₹55,000 and ₹70,000. The tract itself is what sets the figure: a single, simple, low fistula is a different operation from a branching or recurrent one.
Laser closure of the tract and conventional open surgery are both done here, and the two are priced close together. What separates them is not the bill so much as continence risk: the laser works inside the tract and leaves the sphincter alone.
₹55,000–₹70,000
estimated surgery cost
Laser closure costs more than an open fistulotomy. It works from inside the tract, so the sphincter is left intact, which is the whole argument for it in a high or complex fistula.
A simple, single, low tract is one operation. A branching, high or previously operated fistula may need an MRI first, a seton stage before the definitive repair, and longer follow-up.
A shared ward, a twin-sharing room or a private suite: the largest single swing in most estimates, and the one thing on this list you choose rather than are assigned.
A longer operation spends more theatre time and more of the anaesthetist’s, and a consultant with more years behind the procedure is charged at a higher rate.
Local, spinal or general. Which one your case needs is a clinical decision, not a preference, and it moves both the drug cost and how long you are monitored afterwards.
We are empanelled with most major insurers and file the pre-authorisation for you, so what is left to pay yourself is known before admission rather than at discharge.
Which of these apply to you is settled at the consultation. Until a surgeon has seen you and your reports, any figure (here or anywhere else) is a range rather than your bill.
Get Cost Estimate| Treatment option | Estimated cost at Lux |
|---|---|
| Laser Fistula Treatment | ₹60,000 – ₹70,000 |
| Conventional Fistula Surgery | ₹55,000 – ₹70,000 |
Every figure above is an indicative range, not a quote. After your consultation you are given a written, fixed-cost estimate, and that is the number you pay, with no additions once treatment begins.
The figure quoted to you is what leaving the hospital costs, not what entering it does. Everything below is inside it.
Important: Anything outside this list is told to you before it is done, not billed afterwards. If your case needs something the estimate did not allow for, you are asked first.
Your final bill may change if you need additional tests, a procedure for another condition, a longer hospital stay, extra medicines or follow-up care beyond what your estimate includes.
Ask the billing team which charges are included and which may be added based on your treatment needs.
Yes. Most insurers cover fistula surgery in full, and we offer cashless claims with the major providers. Our desk files the pre-authorisation before you are admitted.
Coverage depends on your policy, the treatment approved and the insurer or TPA. Contact the Lux Hospitals insurance desk to check eligibility and understand any expected out-of-pocket cost.
A fistula is the one proctology operation where the wrong technique costs a patient something money cannot get back. That is what drives how it is done here.
Hospital stay and recovery depend on the procedure, your condition and your individual health. Some procedures may be completed as day-care treatment; others may require admission.
Before discharge, your care team will explain medicines, care at home and any follow-up appointments. Your surgeon can give you a recovery plan after assessing your condition and treatment.
