The implant is the part of a knee replacement that stays with you, and it is the line in the estimate people most want explained. Indian-made and imported prostheses both perform well; what separates them is the bearing material, the range of motion the design allows, and the length of the track record behind it.
At Lux Hospitals, a knee implant costs between ₹1,00,000 and ₹2,00,000 per knee, depending on which one you and your surgeon settle on.
Two tiers, and the honest position is that both work. A standard implant does the job well for most patients; a premium or imported one may offer a higher flexion range or a longer-wearing bearing, which matters more for a younger, more active patient than for an older, less demanding one.
₹1,00,000–₹2,00,000
estimated surgery cost
The largest single line. Imported implants from the established manufacturers cost more; whether that difference buys you anything depends on your age and activity level.
A partial implant resurfaces only the worn compartment, removes less bone and costs less. It suits a minority of patients, and you will be told if you are one.
X-rays and, where needed, an MRI to size the implant and plan the alignment before theatre. Getting that right is worth more than the implant upgrade.
A shared ward, a twin-sharing room or a private suite: the largest single swing in most estimates, and the one thing on this list you choose rather than are assigned.
A longer operation spends more theatre time and more of the anaesthetist’s, and a consultant with more years behind the procedure is charged at a higher rate.
Local, spinal or general. Which one your case needs is a clinical decision, not a preference, and it moves both the drug cost and how long you are monitored afterwards.
We are empanelled with most major insurers and file the pre-authorisation for you, so what is left to pay yourself is known before admission rather than at discharge.
Which of these apply to you is settled at the consultation. Until a surgeon has seen you and your reports, any figure (here or anywhere else) is a range rather than your bill.
Get Cost Estimate| Treatment option | Estimated cost at Lux |
|---|---|
| Standard Knee Implant | ₹1,00,000 – ₹2,00,000 |
| Premium / Imported Implant | ₹1,50,000 – ₹2,00,000 |
Every figure above is an indicative range, not a quote. After your consultation you are given a written, fixed-cost estimate, and that is the number you pay, with no additions once treatment begins.
The figure quoted to you is what leaving the hospital costs, not what entering it does. Everything below is inside it.
Important: Anything outside this list is told to you before it is done, not billed afterwards. If your case needs something the estimate did not allow for, you are asked first.
Your final bill may change if you need additional tests, a procedure for another condition, a longer hospital stay, extra medicines or follow-up care beyond what your estimate includes.
Ask the billing team which charges are included and which may be added based on your treatment needs.
Yes, most health insurance plans cover knee replacement including the implant. We support cashless claims with the leading providers. Some policies cap the implant component, and we will tell you if yours does.
Coverage depends on your policy, the treatment approved and the insurer or TPA. Contact the Lux Hospitals insurance desk to check eligibility and understand any expected out-of-pocket cost.
The implant matters. It matters less than where it is put, which is why the planning gets as much attention as the choice.
Hospital stay and recovery depend on the procedure, your condition and your individual health. Some procedures may be completed as day-care treatment; others may require admission.
Before discharge, your care team will explain medicines, care at home and any follow-up appointments. Your surgeon can give you a recovery plan after assessing your condition and treatment.
