A lipoma is a benign fatty tumour: a soft, movable lump that sits just under the skin and is almost always harmless. People have them removed for three reasons: it has grown, it has started to press on something, or it is somewhere they would rather it were not.
At Lux Hospitals, lipoma surgery runs from ₹5,000 to ₹50,000. That is a wide band because the two ends of it are genuinely different days: one small lump under local anaesthetic, against a dozen removed in one sitting.
How many, and how big, is nearly the whole calculation. A single small lipoma is a short procedure under local anaesthetic; multiple lipomas, or one deep one sitting under muscle, mean general anaesthesia and a proper theatre slot.
₹5,000–₹50,000
estimated surgery cost
One lump is minutes. Several are a theatre session, and a large one leaves a cavity that has to be closed carefully so it does not fill with fluid afterwards.
A lipoma under the skin is straightforward. One lying beneath muscle, or against a nerve, is a different dissection and takes longer.
Anything large, deep, rapidly growing or painful is sent for testing. Lipomas are benign nearly always, and "nearly" is why the specimen goes to the lab.
A shared ward, a twin-sharing room or a private suite: the largest single swing in most estimates, and the one thing on this list you choose rather than are assigned.
A longer operation spends more theatre time and more of the anaesthetist’s, and a consultant with more years behind the procedure is charged at a higher rate.
Local, spinal or general. Which one your case needs is a clinical decision, not a preference, and it moves both the drug cost and how long you are monitored afterwards.
We are empanelled with most major insurers and file the pre-authorisation for you, so what is left to pay yourself is known before admission rather than at discharge.
Which of these apply to you is settled at the consultation. Until a surgeon has seen you and your reports, any figure (here or anywhere else) is a range rather than your bill.
Get Cost Estimate| Treatment option | Estimated cost at Lux |
|---|---|
| Single Lipoma Removal | ₹5,000 – ₹12,000 |
| Multiple Lipoma Removal | ₹30,000 – ₹50,000 |
Every figure above is an indicative range, not a quote. After your consultation you are given a written, fixed-cost estimate, and that is the number you pay, with no additions once treatment begins.
The figure quoted to you is what leaving the hospital costs, not what entering it does. Everything below is inside it.
Important: Anything outside this list is told to you before it is done, not billed afterwards. If your case needs something the estimate did not allow for, you are asked first.
Your final bill may change if you need additional tests, a procedure for another condition, a longer hospital stay, extra medicines or follow-up care beyond what your estimate includes.
Ask the billing team which charges are included and which may be added based on your treatment needs.
Where a doctor has recommended removal on medical grounds (it is growing, painful, or pressing on something) most policies cover it. Purely cosmetic removals are often excluded, and our desk will tell you which category yours falls into before you commit.
Coverage depends on your policy, the treatment approved and the insurer or TPA. Contact the Lux Hospitals insurance desk to check eligibility and understand any expected out-of-pocket cost.
A minor operation is still an operation, and what a patient is left with is a scar they will look at for years.
In most cases there is not one. Lipoma removal is usually a day-care procedure and patients go home the same day.
